Peter M. Notarianni 1976 – 2022

Peter Matthew Notarianni, 45, of Midlothian, Virginia, died January 9, 2022 after a three week battle with COVID-19.   Born in Arlington, Virginia,   Peter attended Saint Ann’s School, (Class of 1990), Bishop O’Connell High School, (Class of 1994), and Randolph Macon College (Class of 1998).    He was passionate and proud of his time playing football and lacrosse at Bishop O’Connell.   He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma.

Upon graduation from Randolph Macon College,   Peter chose to live a very private life in the Richmond area.   Although many never understood why,  no one doubts that through his adult life he was a devoted husband and father.

Peter’s family is overwhelmed with the amount of prayers and support received from his childhood and college era friends.  The consistent theme being that Peter was a true and steadfast friend and his passing was suffered by many.

In particular,  the family wishes to thank Mr. Mark Downs, of Falls Church, Virginia.   He was Peter’s closest childhood friend, from elementary school through college.   When word of Peter’s death reached his family,   Mark dropped everything he was doing and traveled a significant distance to be with Peter’s surviving family.   In a dark time,  he was a source of comfort and light.

Peter was survived by his father John Victor Notarianni, mother Judith Ann Herrlein Notarianni, of Cumberland Maryland; his elder brother John Michael Notarianni, of Charlotte North Carolina; younger brother Paul Joseph Notarianni, sister-in-law Crystal Whittington Notarianni, and nephew Ethan James Notarianni, all of Cumberland Maryland. He was survived by his paternal uncle Joseph Harty and wife, Katie Harty.

Peter was survived by his wife and children, whose privacy he deeply valued.

Peter was also survived by a list of cousins too numerous to mention, but included the Notarianni Family of Johnsonburg Pennsylvania and the Herrlein Family of the Washington DC area.

Peter was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Commander Alfred Notarianni, USNR; paternal grandmother Catharine “Kitty” Notarianni; maternal grandfather TSGT Charles Michael “Buck” Herrlein, USAAC; and maternal grandmother Natalie Spangler Herrlein. Peter was also preceded in death by his paternal aunt, Edith “Nina” Notarianni and her husband Stephen “Uncle Steve” Carreiro, both of Ormond Beach Florida.
